FAQ

Frequently asked questions
(a.k.a. the things everyone’s secretly wondering but your ‘tannie’ actually asked out loud)

Q: Why can’t we bring our own alcohol onto the premises?

A: As much as we love a good blue plastic cooler box, our liquor license says absolutely not. It’s one of those legal things – like taxes, or pants in public. But hey, our bar is stocked, chilled, and manned by people who actually know the difference between a Castle Light and a Castle FREE.

Q: Why are check-in and check-out times so strict?

A: We’d love to be more relaxed about this, but our housekeeping team are superheroes—not magicians. We need time to make your room sparkle (and find any socks the last guest left behind). Help us help you check into a room that feels like it was made just for you. Because it was. A few hours ago.

Q: Why is the buffet only open for 45 minutes during mealtimes?

A: Because the food is that good. Seriously though, our buffet runs like a well-oiled machine—fresh, hot, and in perfect sync with the day’s schedule. Plus, shorter service windows keep things delicious and reduce waste. It’s our way of being kind to the planet… and your taste buds.

Q: Why can’t we play music after 12am?

A: After midnight, our lodge transforms into a peaceful retreat where the stars shine, the owls hoot, and the only beats should be your heartbeat slowing down. We kindly ask that all music wraps up by 12am out of respect for fellow guests—and for the neighboring lodges who also value a quiet night. Let’s keep the good vibes going without waking the wildlife (or the neighbours).

Q: Why do we have to sign indemnity forms?

A: Think of it as the grown-up version of “I promise not to sue if I try to ride a zebra and it doesn’t end well.” The indemnity form helps protect the lodge, our team, and your fellow guests by setting clear boundaries and responsibilities. It’s standard in the hospitality world—and much less exciting than it sounds. No hidden clauses, just a little legal housekeeping so we can all focus on the fun stuff.

Q: Why does the Mini-Shop & Bar only accept cash?

A: Our card machines are a bit... moody. Thanks to unreliable MTN and Vodacom signals, they like to take spontaneous naps—especially when you’re trying to pay for snacks or sundowners. To avoid awkward standoffs at the till, we keep it old school: cash only. So bring those paper pals and be the hero of your own snack story.

Q: Why do we pay a set amount for accommodation & meals for weddings?

A: When a couple books their big day with us, they go all in—literally! All 54 rooms are reserved as part of our exclusive wedding package, creating a private little paradise for the celebration. We don’t charge per room or per guest; instead, the bridal party pays a set amount upfront to lock it all in. From there, it’s up to them to decide how they want to divvy things up and collect from their guests. Think of it as their first official act of teamwork before saying “I do.”

Q: Why does the Bar close at 23:45?

A: We like to think of it as a gentle nudge to swap brandy specials for campfire chats and enjoy the starry skies. Plus, our bartenders need their beauty sleep too—so they’re ready to shake, stir, and serve again tomorrow. Closing at 23:45 is also part of a friendly agreement with the neighbouring lodges and resorts to keep things peaceful for everyone in the area. So sip up, finish up the pool game, and let the night wind down in style.
